Spiritual Communion Prayers

Sometimes for whatever reason people are unable to enroll themselves in a Perpetual Mass Association.
 However there are still other ways of obtaining the graces of the Mass or Holy Communion without leaving your home or doing anything other than saying a simple prayer or prayers.
Two prayers in particular can bring you great graces and these are:
1) The Prayer to obtain the Grace’s of all the World’s Masses – and that Prayer is as follows:
Eternal Father, we humbly offer Thee our poor presence and that of the whole of humanity from the begining to the end of the world at all the Masses that have ever or ever will be prayed. We offer Thee all the pains. sufferings, prayers, sacrifices, joys and relaxations of our lives in union with those of our dear Lord Jesus here on earth. May the Most Precious Blood of Christ, all His Blood and Wounds and Agony save us through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Amen! (This prayer should be said daily if possible and made know to others).
2)  A Spiritual Communion Prayer.
A Spiritual Communion Prayer is a prayer you can say if, for whatever reason, you are unable to receive Holy Communion sacramentally. For example if there is no priest or Eucharistic Minister avaiable to give you Holy Communion, if you are living in isolation or are too unwell to receive Holy Communion, a Spiritual Communion is very beneficial to your soul.
To say a Spiritual Communion you have to have a desire to receive Jesus Christ in The Blessed Sacrement, have a perfect contrition for your sins and then receive Jesus Christ in spirit into you soul.
There are many different Spiritual Communion prayers varying from a few words to a longer prayer composed by one of the saints. You can even make up your own Spiritual Communion prayer eg Dear Jesus, I desire to receive you spiritually into my soul.

Other well known Spiritual Communion prayers are:

a) May every beat of my heart be a Spiritual Communion.
b) St Josemaria Escriva, founder of Opus Dei popularized the following prayer;
           I wish Lord , to receive You with the purity, humility and devotion with which Your Most Holy Mother received You, with the spirit and
           fervor ot the saints.
c)  St Padre Pio said Spiritual Communions many times each day and the one he preferred was composed by St Alphonsus Ligouri, founder of
     The Redemptorists and a Doctor of The Church.
           O My God , I firmly believe You are really present in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar,
            I love You with all my heart and because I love I am sorry for having offended you.
            I long to posses You within my soul,
            But as I cannot receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
            I unite myself with You as if You are already there.
            Never permit me to separate myself from You again.
            Grant that I may allways love You, and do with me what You will.
            Amen.
d)   To paraphrase St Teresa of Avila (1515-1582), also a Doctor of the Church;
When you do not receive Holy Communion and cannot attend Mass, you can make a Spiritual Communion which is a very beautiful thing to do. By saying a Spiritual Communion you will draw down the love of God onto yourself.
        O My God, I turn towards The Holy Tabernacel where You live hidden for love of me.
        I love you O My God , though I cannot receive You in Holy Communion.
        Come nevertheless and visit me with Your Grace.
        Come Spiritually into my heart,
        Purify my heart, sanctify my heart,
        Render my heart like onto Your Own.
        Amen.
Finally, St Jean Marie Vianney (1786-1859) known as The Curé of Ars, was a truly remarkable man and is the Patron Saint of Priests.
 He was one of the greatest saints ever and had a great devotion to Our Lady and St Philomena. He was tormented by the devil who threw him out of bed and even set fire to his bed as well as frequently beating him up especially if a big sinner was going to come to the Curé for confessions the following day.
 He spent 17 hours a day in the confession box. The devil once told him that if their were 3 other men like him in the world at that time the devil’s reign would be ended!
St Jean Vianney said that if something, no matter how trivial was annoying you, that you should offer it up to God and say the following short prayer;
O My God, I offer this in honour of the moment when You died for me.
St Jean Vianney said Spiritual Communions frequently and he said about the benefiits of saying them;
A Spiritual Communion acts on the soul as blowing does on a cinder covered fire which was about to go out. Whenever you feel your love of God going cold, quickly make a Spiritual Communion.
